Well, I have been super busy the last few weeks and I haven't spent the time to sit down and blog, so here I am finally. The first big piece of news is that I have a new teaching job for next school year!!!WOOOHOO! This was one of my "resolutions" and it has been accomplished. I went to Phoenix Union High School Districts teacher recruitment fair this last weekend to practice interviews. I have to renew my Social Studies certificate which I am in the process of doing, so I figured I wouldn't find a job there. BUT-they were in desperate need of Family and Consumer Science teachers-and I interviewed with three schools about their jobs. The last school, North High School, interviewed me and gave me a letter of intent that day! I am so excited because the school was written up in Newsweek Magazine for being the top three of Arizona high schools and in the top 1000 high schools in the nation. I even got a t-shirt! So YEEHAW! Now, I just have to get my paper work together and apply for my certification. Hopefully, ADE will accept my credits from my classes.
In other news-I got a cell phone. My car is scary, and I have finally broke down to get one. It is fun, and I am learning how to use it a little bit at a time.
Chris and I watched the Super Bowl yesterday to cheer on the Seahawks. Unfortunately they lost and I was totally bummed for awhile (surprisingly). Our cable went out during the 3rd quarter, so I had to call my parents in Washington to hear the outcome of the game.
I have started AIMS tutoring at school (last week). I am doing 9 tutoring sessions a week and it is tough. I have lost all sense of time management, and I certainly don't want to bring work home with me, so getting things done is rough. But, it is only for one month, and I should get about $1000 dollars, so it isn't too bad.
I have also decided to quit my Pearson consulting job this week. It is boring and I am not interested in working on the weeknights and weekends. If I didn't have other things going (like a full time job) it would be fine, but I don't want to work anymore than I have to-to do something boring.
Well, it seems I have been tagged by Audra, so here goes:
WHAT WAS I DOING 10 YEARS AGO: I was attending the University of Puget Sound as a Sophomore, Vice-President of my sorority (Kappa Alpha Theta), working three jobs-a deli, at a law firm, and at Sylvan Learning Center.
WHAT WAS I DOING ONE YEAR AGO: I was working as the principal at the school I am teaching at now. I was totally stressed out. In addition, I was playing Everquest a ton with my husband. I was very unhappy with my professional career, and it was spreading into my personal life.
5 FAVORITE SNACKS: ice cream, avocados, hot chocolate (not a snack, but it fills me up), pistachios, chips and cheesy con queso.
5 SONGS TO WHICH I KNOW ALL LYRICS: Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" and "Time After Time". Tina Turner's "What's Love Got To Do With It" and "Private Dancer", and Dolly Parton/Kenny Roger's "Islands in the Stream".
5 BAD HABITS: Eating when I am not hungry, leaving bath towels all over the house, turning on every light in the house, leaving clothes on the floor, not cleaning the cat's litter box consistently.
5 THINGS I LIKE DOING: Playing all sorts of computer games, hiking, camping, reading, scrapbooking
5 THINGS I WOULD NEVER BUY,WEAR, OR GET AGAIN: a mini-skirt, candles with wire wicks, white stockings/hose, a wrap around skirt, a movie by Steven Seagal, Van Damm, or Vin Diesal (sp).
5 FAVORITE TOYS: My computer and the Internet(pc games included), my books, my scrapbooking items, my art supplies and materials, and my cross-stitching stuff.
No tags-it ends here.
