Congratulations! I am pregnant!

Really, I found out I was pregnant about three weeks ago. Chris and I were over at Jeff and Audra's house eating (per the usual) and I was talking about how I had been feeling tired lately and gassy. She mentioned that the symptoms I was having sounded like pregnancy. At the time, I just shrugged it off, thinking it was stress from starting a new job at a new school. As Chris and I were heading home, we talked about it, and I figured I had better buy a pregnancy test sometime that weekend, just to be sure.

So, that Thursday morning, Chris flew off to San Antonio, and I went to Safeway to get a few groceries and buy a pregnancy test. When I got home, I headed into the bathroom to take it. When you take the test, you are supposed to wait a minute or two before you see the results. Well, when I took the test, it turned into a plus sign IMMEDIATELY, indicating that I was, indeed, pregnant.

I was totally stunned and numb. At first I didn't know quite what to do or believe, so I made some breakfast, and went back to check, and sure enough, I was still pregnant. So I called Chris and left a message on his phone to call me (he was flying to TX) and then called my mom. Well, when she told her coworkers, I guess everyone screamed congratulations, and it was big news at her office.

Just to be truly sure, I went down to my former ob/gyn's office to take the "official" test from them. They were unprofessional though-instead of pulling me aside in the office, they told me at the front window, in front of all of the other patients. It wasn't very private, and it was totally unprofessional. So, right then, I decided to find a new ob/gyn.

So, perhaps this was my first real emotional ride, because I probably called 5 doctors offices to schedule appointments, and I was totally unhappy, because either the office staff were rude, or their appointment times didn't mesh with my work schedule.

Finally, I found one. My first doctor appointment is Sept. 8th at 7am. Hopefully, I am not super late for work that day.

As for symptoms, I have suffered some mild nausea which has always been cured with food. That lasted for about two weeks-hopefully that won't be back to visit-ever. I am still pretty tired-for awhile there I was going to bed at 8pm and getting up at 6am. At the moment, I am 10 weeks pregnant, and I have been stayiing up to 9:30-10pm-woohoo! I am tremendously gassy still-major. We could run a car with the amount of gas I am producing. Also, due to the gas, I have some bowel/tummy distension (however you say it)=essentially, I have more of a pooch then I did a few weeks ago. I also seem to be a bit more weepy. I cried at two episodes of Buffy (which I don't normally do, since I have seen them all at least 4x) and some songs on the CD's I have been playing. I have had to shut them off about half way through because my eyes tear up. Ridiculous.

Within the next month though I will begin to show. Chris has been trying to take my picture to document the baby growing, but I keep putting it off. I really don't want to see my tummy grow at the moment. I have a hard enough time fitting into my clothes as it is. I have to get it over though, so I keep chanting that I am pregnant, to change my mindset. But, it hasn't slowed my eating down a bit-hmm-imagine that.

Other than that, it hasn't really hit yet. We know we are pregnant, and Chris and I look at each other and say "Man, we are pregnant", but that is about as far as it gets. We kinda talk about names-so far we like Dillon if it is male (although we aren't wild for it) and we like Kennedy for female (which I got from Buffy). We have talked about establishing a college savings plan, and about painting the house (which Chris shudders at every time I mention it, so I have stopped for awhile). There are so many things to do now, and it is overwhelming. One of these nights we are just going to have to sit down and make a list of our priorities.

Work has been good. I am trying to get ahead with my lesson planning. The kids are pretty bright for the most part, and the parents actually care about what their kids are doing at school. My coworkers are fun-I primarily hang with the 7th and 8th grade teachers-we are at the far back of the building. The drive between our house and Anthem sometimes bites, but it is nice to have the break to wind up or down between work and home.

We bought a new computer yesterday! It should be great! It has a 20 inch digital screen, and lots of memory for scrapbooking. I have petered out on that this summer-primarily taking a break, but my computer runs so slow now that it takes forever to load up the images to make a page. Also, we have started talking about getting a new car. No baby of ours will be riding in my little Ford Escort. It has been a great car, but it is time to move on. I am not looking forward to the car payment though. Haven't had one in about five years.

Well, that is the update. I will put my picture up when we take it hehe.
