35 Weeks

Well, alot has happened in the last few weeks. First of all, I have gestational diabetes, which was a huge bummer. But, it has forced me to eat well and watch my blood sugar so we don't have a huge baby. Last Friday I went in for my first NST test, and what was supposed to take 15 minutes turned int 4 1/2 hours because I was having contractions every three minutes. The nurses had to give me two doses of Terbutaline to stop the contractions. Now I am on a 20 hour work week (which I like) and on medication to prevent pre-term labor.

We finally have the crib and the changing table. Chris is going to set it up this weekend (hopefully) if we get around to it. At least the baby's room is painted and the curtains are up. They are so cute!

I am huge. It is hard for me to put on socks and underwear, and if I decide to wear my Keds, Chris has to help me put them on. He helps me alot more now, thank god. My belly gets in the way of everything, and my clothes have all sorts of little stains from eating. I still have occasional gas and heartburn, but nothing major like earlier. During this time, many women complain of lack of sleep and back problems, but knock on wood, I don't have that. I get up once a night (sometimes twice) to go to the bathroom, but I get right back to sleep again without issue. In fact, I still sleep like the dead.

School is good. I like working part time. It is more relaxing and it is giving me some time to plan for maternity leave. I feel bad though for the other teachers that work with me. One of my students crocheted Macy (the baby's name now) a blue and pink blanket. It is awesome! I was (and still am) so impressed with it. Very cool.

Other than that, not much else is going on. I am pretty much homebound, so we can't do too much on the weekends anymore. Chris is stressed with work, with spring training coming up and all. There is lots to do around the house, and we just don't feel like doing it. It is like we are trying to get in all the free time that we can before the baby is born, because after that who knows. We have been attending baby classes at the hospital-they are interesting. The last one is next week, and it is on infant care.

Audra and Jeff have sucked us into American Idol. We swore we would never watch it, but alas, we have failed.
