So I am back to school now for the last two weeks of the school year. I came back during teacher appreciation week, so I received gifts when I came back! Some of my students gave me baby stuff (lotion, t-shirts, bibs, picture frames)-I got some gingerbread, some chocolate mint candies, and the PTA at school gave us treats all week. The 7th grade team played a poker game and I won with a pair of queens-so I got the grand prize-which was a huge gift basket full of summer stuff-plus an icecream maker! Chris and I have only made homemade icecream once when we first moved into the house. We had a peach tree in the backyard, so we picked the peaches and made sugar free peach ice cream. It was excellent! But, the peach tree is gone now, and we haven't made anything since. Hopefully this summer I will feel motivated to make some.
I am planned for the rest of the year, which is nice. I am looking forward to revising my lesson plans for next year. I would like to get rid of the boring ones (obviously). Many of my students have asked me to move up to 8th grade, which I think is great! But, I am going to stay in 7th, as long as my team does, and work on improving my lessons-it will be the first time in 8 years that I will have taught the same grade level in a row.
I have been asked to be the social studies department chair at school. I am going to do it. It will mean more work from me, but I think it is a step up for doing curriculum development at the district level. I am also going to attend a district level standards conference this summer for 7th and 8th grade, so that should be good (and its paid, which helps).
Things on the homefront are good. Macy sleeps between 8-9 hours at night now with one feeding. That should increase a little as time passes. She is 7 weeks old now-time is flying by. We videotaped her in the bath the other day-it is so cute to watch! Chris wants to video tape her taking a poo poo, but we shall see. He wants to get some toys and stuff for the bathtub-he has vowed NOT to have playtime in the bathtub, but, that doesn't seem to be working out LOL.
Trying to get a lot of digi-scrapping done. I need to teach myself new techniques, but it is hard to balance that with wanting to finish pages.
